Intro to Aerials
A large metal ring hanging from the ceiling is called an aerial hoop or Lyra. Ceiling aerial silks also consist of long, slender pieces of fabric. Fixed trapeze, also known as static trapeze, is a form of circus art performed on the trapeze. As opposed to other types of trapeze, the bars and ropes on static trapeze are mostly stationary.
The apparatus will be safely mounted and dismounted as well as various poses for beginners. No previous experience is required.
Let’s play together. There will be individual practice opportunities for Lyra, pole, and pole silks. No instruction will be provided during Open Studio. This is your chance to practice and perfect the skills you have learned in class. While instructors will provide tips and assist with technique or spotting, no new material will be introduced during this class. This is a chance to improve your skills.
Lyra Level 1
Aerial hoops, or Lyras, are large metal rings hung from the ceiling. In addition to mounting and dismounting safely, beginners will learn different poses while inside the hoop. No previous experience is required.
Lyra Level 2
During the class, students warm-up and do conditioning exercises before moving on to choreographed combinations. In addition to building on the basic skills learned in Lyra beginner, students will focus on fluidity, spins, transitions, and flexibility. Attendance is subject to instructor approval.
Bring back the sexiness of Sundays. Don your heels, unleash your feminine power and prepare to slink and slide.
